Family Drift Diving Adventure in the Kerama Islands, Okinawa

A close-knit family of divers from France joined us for an exciting day of diving in the Kerama Islands!

The father is a Rescue Diver, and his two sons, aged 23 and 18, are also certified divers. A father and two sons who all dive together — what a cool family!

Since all three were experienced and comfortable underwater, we joined a boat for advanced divers and started the day with drift diving from the very first dive.

At the south side of Kuroshima Island, we were lucky enough to encounter a manta ray! The two sons were absolutely thrilled to see one swimming in the beautiful blue waters of Okinawa.

Our next dive was Twin Rock on the north side of Kuroshima, a dive site famous for its spectacular underwater topography. With visibility of more than 30 meters, the enormous rock formations were clearly visible all the way from underwater to their peaks above the surface.

All three were excellent divers, so we were able to drift across to explore the second rock formation farther away. Along the way, we passed through beautiful gardens of soft coral filled with bright orange anthias — a stunning contrast against the deep blue water.

For our final dive, we headed to Kuroshima Beacon, an exciting open-ocean dive site. Riding a strong current flowing south, we drifted along the coral reef and explored a brilliant blue underwater cave.

After passing through the cave, we even encountered a huge whitetip reef shark cruising through the water — the perfect ending to a day that truly showed us the wild side of Okinawa’s ocean.

At TERIYAKI DIVERZ, we have English-speaking dive guides, so we welcome divers from all over the world.

Come dive with us and experience the crystal-clear waters of Okinawa and the Kerama Islands!
