A Manta ray Surprise During Their OWD Course

After yesterday’s training dives, these two had already become a great buddy team!

They joined us from Wales and Singapore, and at TERIYAKI DIVERZ, we offer PADI Open Water Diver courses in English.

For the second day of the course, we headed to Kerama Islands National Park. They practiced the skills they had learned the day before in a real boat-diving environment, including underwater compass navigation.

Both divers showed great buoyancy control, and to finish the day, we enjoyed a drift dive over a colorful coral reef. This is a special uninhabited island within the national park, made entirely of sand. Because the currents can be strong here, the area has remained beautifully untouched.

But the biggest highlight of the day was the manta ray that appeared during their OWD course!

It gracefully swam through an area where mantas would normally never appear. Perhaps it came to welcome two brand-new divers into the underwater world. 🤿✨
