A Day of Diving Adventures in Okinawa: Itoman, Kerama & More
teriyakidiverzWe had several different tours taking place today.
First, we’d like to share a little about today’s fun diving in Itoman. Located about 30 minutes south of Naha by car, Itoman is a beautiful diving area where plenty of untouched natural scenery still remains.
The harbor is located in a quiet rural area and isn’t a place where large crowds gather. That makes it a great choice for anyone who wants to spend a relaxing day enjoying the ocean, the breeze, and the peaceful surroundings.
The diving style is also very chill. We return to the harbor after each dive, so it’s a comfortable option even for those who don’t enjoy the rocking of the boat for long periods.
Today, we visited dive sites such as Nashiro and Uwenchi, where we enjoyed observing beautiful coral reefs and plenty of colorful fish.
There was still a little swell left from the recent weather, so the sea conditions weren’t at their best. We hope to take them to some of the other dive sites someday when the ocean is calmer.
Our other team joined a half-day discover scuba diving tour in the Kerama Islands.
We were delighted to welcome a wonderful guest from France. She is only 21 years old and was traveling around Japan by herself. At TERIYAKI DIVERZ, solo travelers can feel completely comfortable joining our diving tours, too.
Thanks to completing about 30 minutes of e-learning in advance, she was able to start diving confidently after just a little practice on the day.
She seemed to have a wonderful time discovering the underwater world, meeting lots of clownfish, beautiful coral, and colorful tropical fish along the way.
And last but not least, our energetic boys’ team! They started their PADI Open Water Diver course today!
The two joined us separately, one from Singapore and the other from Wales. Both being sporty guys, they quickly hit it off and became great buddies.
On the first day of the OWD course, students learn how to use their scuba equipment and practice basic diving skills at a shallow training site. Thanks to their good athletic ability, they picked up the skills very quickly.
Even though the visibility at the training site was far from perfect, they still had a great time discovering plenty of marine life, including a huge school of sardines.
Tomorrow, it’s time for the beautiful Kerama Islands, where visibility can exceed 30 meters! We can’t wait to see them enjoying their first real day of diving there.
