First-Time Scuba Diving in the Kerama Islands, Okinawa
teriyakidiverzA couple from Austria and Canada joined us for their very first scuba diving experience!
Our Kerama Islands tour takes place aboard a large 50–60 ft dive boat, making it a comfortable option even for first-time divers.
Before the tour, participants complete approximately 30 minutes of eLearning to learn the basics of scuba equipment, the underwater environment, and diving theory. This allows us to spend as much time as possible on practical training on the day of the tour.
After practicing at the large ladder at the back of the boat, we slowly descended along a rope toward the seafloor.
Once we reached a depth of around 10 meters, a completely different world opened up beneath us.
The beautiful white sandy bottom, colorful coral reefs, and crystal-clear blue water amazed them both.
By their second dive, they had become much more comfortable underwater and were swimming around confidently, enjoying the freedom of being beneath the surface.
They even decided to add an optional third dive at the end of the day, making the most of their time in the beautiful waters of the Kerama Islands.
Visibility in the Kerama Islands is often around 30 meters, making it an incredible place to experience scuba diving for the first time. Our instructors speak English, and introductory dives are conducted privately for each group, so you can take your time practicing until you feel comfortable before descending.
The Kerama Islands offer some of the clearest waters in the world, surrounded by beautiful coral reefs. If you're lucky, you may encounter sea turtles, whitetip reef sharks, and even manta rays — which we have been seeing frequently this summer.
