Experience 3 thrilling drift dives in the Kerama Islands
teriyakidiverzWe welcomed experienced divers from Spain for a full-day diving trip to the Kerama Islands National Park.
As they were advanced divers, we enjoyed three drift dives, exploring some of the best sites the Kerama Islands have to offer.
Our first dive was at Paraiso, a dive site off Maejima. "Paraiso" means "paradise" in Spanish, making it a fitting name for this beautiful location. We encountered graceful whitetip reef sharks cruising over the white sandy bottom, along with a large school of bigeye trevally. The strong current keeps the hard corals healthy and vibrant, creating an impressive underwater landscape.
The second dive took us to Twin Rocks at Kuroshima, one of the area's most popular dive sites. Visibility was exceptional, allowing us to clearly see the seabed nearly 50 meters below. We explored the dramatic underwater topography while surrounded by colorful schools of anthias and flourishing soft corals. Another shark made an appearance, making the dive even more memorable.
Our final dive was a drift dive at Kuefu Island, a remote, uninhabited island made entirely of sand. Because the currents are often strong, there are only limited opportunities to enter this site safely. As a result, it remains largely untouched, with an incredible abundance of healthy coral and marine life. We were also lucky enough to encounter a sea turtle, bringing a perfect end to an unforgettable day.
