A Perfect Day in Kerama: Mantas, Drift Diving & 40m Visibility
teriyakidiverzToday, we headed back to the Kerama Islands with the same guests as yesterday. With more than 40 dive sites around Kerama, many divers choose to join us for multiple days because every dive can offer a completely different experience.
Once again, the ocean was at its best — no wind, bright summer sunshine, and visibility over 40 meters. Both guests are excellent divers, so we enjoyed three drift dives throughout the day.
At Twin Rocks in Kuroshima, we explored a different side of the exposed rocks compared to yesterday. We encountered schools of colorful anthias and fusilier fish, creating an incredible underwater scene. Beneath the rocks, a whitetip reef shark was resting peacefully.
The soft coral gardens were also beautiful, with wide areas covered in colorful corals.
On the southern side of Kuroshima, we were lucky enough to meet a manta ray again today. Mantas can be found in many places around the world, but seeing them in water with visibility this incredible is a truly special experience. This is one of the unique attractions of diving in Okinawa.
For the final dive, we drifted around a small isolated rock formation standing alone in the open ocean, flying with the current. At this high-current dive site, beautiful red sea fans grow in large colonies, creating a breathtaking underwater landscape. We finished the two-day adventure by swimming through a mysterious, atmospheric cave.
