May 07, 2026 | Open Water Diver Corse
We welcomed a guest from Germany who began his Open Water Diver course with us today.
Because he had already completed the eLearning portion of the course, we were able to move smoothly into the confined water training. At a man-made beach in Naha designed specifically for dive training, he practiced essential scuba skills, from basic equipment use to emergency procedures such as how to respond to an out-of-air situation.
Although this was his very first time scuba diving, the training site is ideal for beginners, with shallow water where students can stand comfortably while learning new skills. This allowed him to build confidence and progress at his own pace.
The area is also home to healthy coral growth, making it possible to see clownfish, blue-green chromis, and sea snakes during training dives. Today, we were even lucky enough to spot some baby squid, which were absolutely adorable.
The second day of the course will take place the day after tomorrow, and he is already looking forward to diving in the Kerama Islands. One of the unique advantages of learning to dive with us is the opportunity to complete training dives in and around one of Japan’s most beautiful national park areas.
