Kuroshima North - dive site in Kerama Islands

We’ll be introducing Kuroshima North, one of the most popular dive sites in the Kerama Islands.

What makes Kuroshima North so special?

✔️ Rich Coral Reefs and Colorful Tropical Fish
At Kuroshima North, schools of vibrant fish such as Sea goldie, Stout chromis, and Pyramid butterflyfish dance above the coral reefs, creating an underwater scene that feels like paradise. The crystal-clear waters offer excellent visibility, making it a great spot not only for diving but also for snorkeling.

✔️Chance to See a Whitetip Reef Shark
It’s not uncommon to spot whitetip reef sharks resting in the shade of rock shelves and crevices during the day. Venturing into the narrow cracks and suddenly coming face-to-face with a shark is a thrilling and unforgettable experience—one that’s uniquely Kuroshima North. And if you’re really lucky, you might even spot a hammerhead shark lurking in the deeper offshore waters!

✔️ Enjoyable for Beginners to Experts
Not only are there vibrant coral reefs in the shallow waters, but there are also beautiful underwater caves at around 12 meters deep. For advanced divers, the popular “Twin Rocks” site further offshore offers a dramatic drop-off centered around two exposed rocks. Here, encounters with large fish like dogtooth tuna and schools of Double-lined fusilier are quite common.

In the 10 to 15-meter deep coral shelf area, vibrant orange sea goldie dance in swarms, creating a truly breathtaking sight.
On sunny days, sunlight streams into the shallow underwater caves, creating a magical atmosphere. Even beginners can enjoy exploring them with confidence.
Whitetip reef sharks swim offshore along the channels, and they can often be found resting beneath the rock shelves.
Depending on the season, you might also observe the rare shark species called the Japanese wobbegong. They have several favorite hiding spots, so be sure to keep an eye out!
For intermediate to advanced divers, drift diving to the offshore isolated reef is also possible.
Beneath the exposed rocks, you'll find a vibrant garden of soft corals known as the "Flower Garden."
