Diving with Experienced Instructors from Hawaii and California
teriyakidiverzToday, we had the pleasure of diving with a group of experienced instructors and their friends from Hawaii and California. We enjoyed three dives together in the Kerama Islands.
They had already been diving for several days during their stay in Okinawa and had been lucky enough to spot manta rays on a few occasions. And, of course, they managed to encounter manta rays again today!
They told us that there are plenty of manta rays around their home in Hawaii, but they were impressed by the visibility in Okinawa, saying that the water here was even clearer.
Manta rays are a rare sight in the Kerama Islands, but since July, we have been seeing them almost every day. Watching manta rays in visibility of over 40 meters might be one of the most incredible manta encounters anywhere in the world.
At a dive site off Maejima, we enjoyed coral formations scattered across the sandy bottom. Our guests especially loved the colorful anthias swimming around the corals.
For our final dive, we headed to a site known as Sugar Hill, a vast sandy landscape perfect for drift diving.
Drifting over endless underwater sand dunes while being carried along by the current feels almost like floating through outer space. It is an incredibly relaxing and exhilarating experience, and we were happy that even these highly experienced divers enjoyed it.
