May 13, 2026 | Advanced Open Water Diver Corse
Continuing from yesterday, today was second day of the Advanced Open Water (AOW) course. We boarded a boat and headed to the Kerama Islands.
At a sandy-bottom dive site, we focused on mastering neutral buoyancy. The goal was to swim smoothly without kicking up the sand, an essential skill for responsible diving. We were also fortunate to have a delightful encounter with a sea turtle during the dive.
At another site featuring dramatic underwater topography, we enjoyed vibrant coral reefs and schools of colorful anthias. One of the Adventure Dives included in the AOW course is Underwater Photography. Capturing great underwater images requires more than just operating a camera—it involves understanding marine life behavior, considering current conditions, and maintaining excellent buoyancy control throughout the dive. It is a specialty that demands a high level of diving skill.
For boat dives, students have the option to add a FUN dive after completing their AOW course.
She chose to do exactly that, and it turned out to be a great decision. On the third dive, at a drift diving site, we were lucky enough to encounter a manta ray. It spent a long time hovering over a cleaning station, allowing us to watch its graceful movements right up until it was almost time to exit the water.
In addition to various PADI courses, we also offer Discover Scuba Diving experiences and guided FUN dives.
